Bereavement Services
Our Services
Our Bereavement Services offer emotional listening support to people approaching end of life and their loved ones, plus bereavement support after the death. During such difficult times, family members can find value in talking to our team (staff and volunteers) who provide an independent, safe space to discuss how they feel with someone not connected to the situation.
Individual support is available 1:1; face to face, telephone or online video appointments.
Group support sessions are also available and offer a chance to meet and learn from others going through similarly difficult times whilst also receiving tailored education and support for you.
We offer a place to laugh, to cry, to hold back, to move forward and freedom to be honest without feeling the need to protect others.
The team respect each person’s individual needs and circumstances and our support services are tailored to ensure clients are supported at a pace which is comforting for them.
For children and young people aged 5-18, we offer a signposting service where we can share information of bereavement support services available locally and nationally to assist families.
Who can access the service?
Adults and their loved ones in the North Warwickshire area who have a life limiting illness or are bereaved following a life limiting condition or illness. You do not have had to accessed Mary Ann Evans Hospice services previously.
Monthly Good Grief Café
The Bereavement team, along with our volunteers, facilitate and run a monthly ‘Good Grief Café’. This is held currently on the second Wednesday of each month 1:30pm – 3:30pm in The Garden Room, in The Warren Building at Mary Ann Evans Hospice.
The group environment is an informal supportive one, that allows clients a place to meet and chat with others who are bereaved.
Light refreshments are provided, along with comfy chairs and informal support as required. A relaxed atmosphere that allows any emotion that arrives on the day. The group shares tears and laughter, ideas, achievements, and problem-solving opportunities. This is encountered together as a peer group with relatable experiences.
Steps Group: A psycho-educational program
This is a closed support group that is run over 12 months covering different aspects of grief, with a different topic each month. A chance to learn about the different aspects of your grief and ways to manage these in a supportive environment.
Green Therapy Group
Held 1:30-3:30pm every third Tuesday each month to aid wellbeing for those bereaved. Come and carry out gardening and related outdoor activities as well as enjoying the benefits of being in touch with nature. Takes place outside whatever the weather.
Do something good for yourself and the environment. No experience necessary.
Delivered in partnership with The Forest of Hearts.
